It usually takes 20 minutes of waiting for U5 bus to arrive. But, at 0ºC in a cold winter night, it felt like in a freezer at home. This picture was taken on 31st December 2009, shortly after attending Hjh. Nurbaya's birthday dinner at her house, in West Dryton, just outside London. It was around 7pm London time (3 morning in Brunei).

As the warden at Brunei Hall, Cg. Hj. Abd Hisab is a father figure to Bruneian students in United Kingdom - we went our separate ways when we left college back in 1982. We had been destined to meet again - here in London. We uncovered stories of the olden days when we were still at schools. Here is our picture taken in front of Brunei Hall.
Aliya and my daughter Ira were classmates and close friends when they were still kids at Nusa Jaya School, Penanjong. Aliya and her family left Brunei three years ago for England. They now live in Birmingham where her parents work as teachers. Her mother drove all the way from Birmingham to London to see us and spent one whole day with us. 'Mind the gap between the train and the platform!' My kids liked to repeat after that warning announcement when it echoed everywhere in train and subway stations all over London. Indeed, pictures can tell a thousand words.
My kids had to be playful in order to warm their bodies. The temperature was 2°C on this day. The picture was taken on Westminster Bridge. Behind are the Big Ben (clock) and the Parliment Building.
For a picture like this I didn't trust my kids to take, thus I used my tripod. Behind me is the 'London Eye'

The sight filled my kids with awe - the royal guards on horses. Later we found out that they had been from performing their duty at the Palace - Buckingham Palace. This picture was taken at Hyde Park Corner. We had been from Harrods, only ten minutes walk from Hyde Park.

I had been warned that it was going to be very cold, dark and wet in London this holiday but I just could not resist it..especially when I have a camera to keep me company, to brave the winter. I took my kids and flew on the 3rd of December 2009.
